When an avid Aussie sailor meets an expat Yank living in Sydney and they share a passion for sailing, there’s bound to be a boat (or three) involved.

Kevin, a native Sydney-sider, has been active on the CYCA racing circuit for over 40 years. He has six Sydney to Hobart yacht races to his credit and more offshore miles than he cares to track. At last count, he has spent 20 years cruising in Mediterranean and Caribbean waters as well as crossing the Pacific in 2023. Kevin first crossed the Atlantic with the ARC in 2009 and returned 10 years later to win the ARC+ in 2019.

The Skipper

The First Mate

What began in 1997 as a three-month expat assignment in Sydney, ended in true love and a second passport (not necessarily in that order). It took Kevin the better part of a year to convince this native Californian to trade her corporate high heels for bare feet and boat shoes. Fast forward 14 years, three boats and over twelve thousand nautical miles, Di says she never looked back.
